Lace Shorts

FASHIONKim & Chloe13 Comments

It's finally, finally shorts time. And I'm loving a whole lot of shorts for summer, but these blue lace shorts are in heavy rotation (already).

They fit well, they are comfortable, the price was right, and my lace shorts provide a break from my trusty jean shorts. Although I love my jeans shorts, the girly side of me was ready to show her frilly side, and this season's shorts are all about glitz and glamour. I've never been much of tomboy so I'm searching for more ladylike shorts to carry me through summer and am thrilled to find patterns, stripes, and embellishments galore. The girlishness I'm seeing has me almost as giddy as my beach trip next week!

Summer Sunnies: how to choose glasses

BEAUTY, FASHIONKim & Chloe2 Comments

How to choose glasses is exhausting - find a style, try it on, get opinions, try another; repeat; repeat; repeat. Isn't there an easier way? Chloe's been on the hunt for summer sunnies and we decided there has to be an easier way to find them! We realized with this tip sheet, how to choose glasses isn't that hard! In fact, it's simple once you figure out the shape of your face. Pull your hair back into a ponytail or just pull it back in a headband. You want to determine the shape of your face and decide whether or not your face is oval, round, heart, or square. It's sometimes hard to determine your own face shape, so have someone look at you and help, or take a picture looking straight into a camera and outline in pen.

Once you have the shape of your face, use these guidelines to select a pair of glasses that will flatter your face shape, keeping in mind that the goal is to balance the structure of your face.

Oval - Lucky you can select almost any shape glasses.

Round - Choose angular and geometric shapes to add some angles to your face. Rectangular and horizontal frames are appealing, as well as upswept frames.

Heart - Bottom heavy glasses draw the eye downward, and narrow or round frames might be charming.

Square - Oval and round shapes soften your face to put your most sunny face forward.

That's it! How to choose glasses is no longer a pain in the behind... it's actually fun to try on a bunch of glasses that look fantastic! Summer sunnies, here Chloe comes :)

Steals and Deals

Clutches: Asos / Vince Camuto

Sunnies: H&M / Karen Walker

Striped Shoes: Target / J.Crew

Chloe and I have finally (mostly) cleaned out our closets and (sort of) put away our winter clothes. For the most part, spring cleaning is done and we are ready for summer clothes. Which means, it's time for summer accessories! Trends come and go and if I want to stretch my dollars, I'm happy to invest in classic clothes and spend less on trendy accessories. So it's steals and deals for accessories time!

Mint is the color of the season, but bet your bottom dollar, that by next season, this season's mint green will scream "so 2000 and late" (sorry, Fergie) and I'd rather put my hard-earned greens somewhere else. So Asos wins the steal by a mile for these summer accessories.

And the hard earned cash could go towards Karen Walker sunnies, which would be an excellent investment. Except I wear prescription sunglasses and already have my favorite pair. So, since Chloe is also lusting after a pair of Karen Walkers - which are nowhere to be found in our fair city (upside, we're saving $346!!) she found a strikingly similar pair for about $10 all in. That won't dent the wallet when they get left on the beach!

And lastly, we both adore our espadrilles. And wedges. And stripes. Blue and white screams summer in France. Well, everything screams summer in France to me, so I'd snap up the Target pair and wait for the J.Crew pair to go on sale! Score and score!
