There are 2 things that surprise me about this outfit: I'm wearing 2 trends, florals and pastels, that I didn't think I'd ever wear. I couldn't wear either... or so I thought.

I found this gorgeous silk chiffon, ice blue shirt at one of my favorite boutiques, Blink. Or rather, the wonderful saleswomen at Blink, who obviously have the art of colors down to a science, found it. They said I should try it on. I laughed (sadly, I do that). They insisted. I laughed again, "Oh, I don't do pastels. Really." But, because they are so darned cute and sweet, I put it on. That's it, forever more whatever Blink suggests, I'll do. Hopefully you can see why! The color is lush and I almost feel like the blonde I wish I was. Blondes may not have all the fun, but in my opinion, they get all the good colors: camels, winter whites, etc. But now I get pale blue!
And florals. I'm simply not a floral gal. Too trendy, too girly, too dainty for me, but these Hush Puppies caught my eye. First of all, I know how comfortable Hush Puppies are. Secondly, they just don't look like anything else in my closet. I don't have any shoes with a pattern, and I adore an attention-getting shoe. And lastly, I love a wedge. Relish in wedges. I can walk all day in a wedge, especially Hush Puppies - even if it was 6". But I mainly just adore how these brighten up just about anything I wear.
So, I'm surprised, in a happily, pleasant way, about this very simple, yet comfortable and atypical outfit for me. I'm not trendy and the shapes are something you'd see me in every day, but the colors and patterns are so not my everyday choices. But from now on, they will be! Who knows what I might do next. Maybe I'm going to mix patterns. Watch out!
