Another new shoe silhouette for Spring is the mule and I'm ready… at least I will be once the snow melts and I can slide into a cozy pair of mules that are made for walking. I'm partial to wedges for their walkability, but mules can be an undeniably comfortable and chic choice when it comes to being on your feet all day, or navigating street grates or cobblestone, especially when they also have a wedge heel. Hallelujah for functional fashion that also screams current and contemporary.
How to wear them? Personally, I think they look best with a slim pant as Elin Kling models in all black above. When wearing skirts and dresses, they pare well with those just below the knee, but leave it to Rumi Neely of FashionToast (in the cover shot who also wears them in a few other posts on her blog) to make mules look good with a mini. But then again, she could make a real mule look cute.

My favorites for spring range from this nude pair that would go with everything, this Alexander Wang pair that comes in black or white and is dramatic for it's simplicity and wide strap, a silver crackle pair at a nice price could dress up jeans and skirts, and Tibi has oodles of styles that seem to be going fast - with reason. From embellished to simple, they all dazzle!
I think lower priced versions will start popping up soon, but if you know of any, please share in the comments below.
How about you - what shoes you are ready to slip into this spring? xo ~kim
