Chignon Twist

BEAUTYKim & Chloe7 Comments

How stunning is this up-do? It’s perfect for a night out on the town or even an interview. Not only is this chignon fit for any occasion, but it’s super simple to do and can either be casual and dressy.

Here’s what you do to get the look:

Step 1: Pick up two 1" pieces of hair right at the front of your head. Use your natural part as a guide to know where to pick up the first piece.

Step 2: French braid your hair with two pieces aka do a two strand twist. All you do is take the front piece and wrap it to the back and drop the new piece that is now in front. Switch hands. Pick up the dropped hair plus some more in front and wrap it back over the hair you are holding while moving the back piece to the front and dropping it. Switch hand and continue. Sound confusing? Check out this video for a two-strand twist. {<-- Click}

Step 3: Once you’ve twisted your hair to the very back of your head, pin the twist so it stays in place and place hair in a ponytail.

Step 3: Roll hair upwards until the desired chignon shape is achieved and use bobby pins to secure in place. (Tip: the longer the hair, the more bobby pins to accomplish.)

Woohoo!! You’ve accomplished the look!

Louisville's Atlantic No. 5 {Part 1}

Atlantic No. 5 Louisville Kentucky

With the freezing temperatures we've endured for months, Chloe and I were on the hunt for an escape from the cold. Truth be told, we're always looking for a new Louisville restaurant and a breakfast / lunch spot that boasts a clean aesthetic in a loft-like space is a must-try for us. Luckily, Atlantic No. 5 didn't disappoint in the vibe or the food. I had joined 2 of my friends for lunch here and was charmed by the down-home allure of the food, from beet salad to grilled cheese and a mediterranean bowl, they were all delicious. The food combined with the airy open feel of the the space results in a combination that leaves me saying Atlantic No. 5 is best described as Brooklyn meets Louisville. My favorite part… and our fabulous photographer Erin's as well, was that it had an atmosphere that begs you to linger and light (oh that light!) that makes you forget how much snow is piled up outdoors. And for all of you who asked about my white button down, here it is... and how I wore it. (Please ignore the hair… I'm going through an absolute crisis but am determined not to pull the usual "grow & cut" routine.)
