Skinny Jeans: Mom Style

Chloe and I discussed our affinity for skinny jeans in our video, in particular how we share this pair from the Gap. I chose the tunic, because it’s effortless, comfortable, there was a bit of a chill in the air, and the pattern adds a bit of interest to simple outfit. The “wow” in this outfit comes from the shoes. Because I can walk in them. They are a little high for me, so I’m surprised I don’t just topple over - must have something to do with the Birkenstock-like insoles that conform to my feet.

And it seems that I am not the only one who thinks these shoes are killer, as in looks - not feel. Walking to brunch, Chloe and I received some attention from a passing car. Based on my last incident, I completely ignored the shouts, best I could. Chloe was still locking up the car and was oblivious, but when she headed over, we soon couldn’t ignore the calls from the guy hanging out of the car desperate for our attention.

We finally realized he was yelling, “Nice shoes.”

What, not possible! Random guys don’t notice things like… shoes.

“Hey, did you hear me? Love the shoes!”

Wait, he really did say shoes. And, heck, I agree. “Thanks, yeah, I do too!”

“Someone needs to take your picture!” and he and his friend sped off.

Chloe and I just giggled (hey, I’m not too old to giggle) and continued on our merry way. We smiled at each other, happy to know that guys yelling from cars are not always being crude, they just might be appreciating a killer pair of shoes, and knowing that our pictures would indeed be taken, if only by each other.

What do you wear with your jeans to dress them up??

Ahhh! I have those shoes too and they are ridiculously comfy. I got them in a similar style for Nordtroms anniversary sale last year and loved them so much I could not resist this black pair. You wear them well! The skinnies, too! Yay for shoe cat calling! :)

Cute shoes… they look fabulous with skinny jeans! Skinny jeans and booties are one of my favorite combos to wear, so I’m loving this outfit. Hope you both have a wonderful day!

OMG….clearly we have similar taste, as we have had the tunic discussion before. I am SALIVATING over that tunic, and was sad when I read that it is old next to your descriptions, because I had my finger on the clicker to go find me one! And the shoes! Don’t get me started! LOOOOOOVE. This. Look.

So cute. I’m going to have to quit buying ice cream so I can wear some skinny mom jeans. My 12 yo would roll her eyes if we tried the same style — but maybe I should try and give her a little shock. And too funny about the guy yelling “nice shoes.”

Love the outfit! If only I could wear skinny jeans, then I would definitely pair them with a tunic like you! :)

I love the fact that both of you look amazingly put together and totally age appropriate in your interpretations of the skinny jean look. Kim, I’m in love with that tunic!
As you know jeans are a staple here in Nashville so I pair mine with just about everything. I am picky about the wash, though. I go for indigo or a colored denim. I think light washes don’t do us old girls any favors!

Completely cute, and the shoes really deserved the holla! Tuck that in your memory book, my dear.
Wonderful to know men, even young ones, who know how to get a woman’s attention with the right kind of comment!

you look so great in your skinny jeans! I wish more women would give them a try- I think they are so much more flattering than wider leg ones!
