RANDOM STUFF, EXTRASChloe Gordon2 Comments

You know when you find something new and you want to share it with the entire world and just scream how great it is from your rooftops? I bet you know the feeling. Well the other day I was avoiding a conversation, and like us millennial seem to do ever so often, I jumped on my phone and scrolled through the infinite bounds that are known so well as “social media.”

As I was scrolling, I saw an ad for an app that had something to do with working out. I was bored, too full from lunch, and dressed in workout clothes that I had no intention of actually working out in, so you could say I had a calling to look more into the app. As I started to research it more I decided that it seemed pretty cool and hit that download.

I literally — not ten minutes ago — finished the 15 minute leg workout, and let me tell you something… it was amazing. The music was good, the instructor tells you what to do and is motivating, and it went by so quickly.

I looked at my phone thinking I was only 5 minutes into the workout but I was three minutes away from being done.

Now I’m literally sore, in the best way possible, from 15 minutes of doing a workout in my bed room. I can’t wait to try the elliptical and treadmill workouts once I get to the gym. It’s so awesome because you have someone telling you what to do, the music is already picked out (the worst part of working out on my own is picking good and motivated songs), and it’s fun!

This isn’t a sponsored post whatsoever, I just needed to share this amazing discovery with you all.

If you’ve tried aaptiv before, what do you think??

little black dress

FASHIONChloe GordonComment

I feel like little black dresses have been under appreciated lately. I haven’t been hearing much about them and it kind of depresses me. I’ll be the first to say it: I’m a minimalistic fashionista. I don’t like all the bells and whistles. The simpler the better. Honestly, if I could just wear jeans and a striped tee everyday and not feel like a cartoon character (the ones that never change clothes) then I would be my happiest. Instead, I scramble everyday to find a variation of that outfit.

Recently, Tobi.com reached out to me to work together and I couldn’t have been more excited. Before they reached out I had purchased a sweater and a suede jacket, and let me tell you, they are two of the most awesome pieces I’ve ever order online — which is saying a lot!

Anyway, I picked out this little black dress and I fell in love with it. It’s a little different that “just a dress” because of the cutout and thefitted waistline. I’m obsessed. This dress will most likely be making an appearance at my sorority formal in the spring, and I can’t wait.

I think the reason I most love little black dresses is the fact that they can be worn with anything. Like you could totally dress it up with fancy heels and bag and necklace, or dress is down with some booties a cargo jacket and big bag. The options are endless, even for a minimalistic person like me!

Let me know which outfit you like better in the comments below: casual or fancy.

Camo Magic

FASHIONChloe GordonComment

The other day I was shopping around Boulder with my mom and brother. We popped into this cute little outdoorsy store and the woman working was wearing the cutest outfit.

We’re talking a perfectly fitted white tee, a black baseball cap, camo pants, and some tan sandals. She was literally the epitome of casual chic. Effortless style. I asked her where she got her pants from (because she was totally rocking them) and she said from the boy’s section of Old Navy. They fit her so perfectly that I was shocked that they were from the boy’s section.

There was something about the camouflage that made me want to try it out for myself. I decided to pull the trigger (heh, get it?) and purchase a camo hat from Urban Outfitters.

I wore it with a little black tee shirt dress to a party the other night and got endless compliments. It was weird. I think there’s something about wearing camo that makes people feel invincible and confident. I don’t know what it is but we’ll call it camo magic.

What trends are you loving lately?

The Best of Netflix

BOOKS & MOVIESChloe GordonComment

Summer is coming to a close. Am I mad about it? No.

I never, ever, ever thought I’d say this, but I want summer to be over. Sure, it’s nice to not have homework or responsibilities or tests or really anything. But you know what? That’s the thing, I’d rather have things to do, people to see, and even tests to study for. I’m my happiest when I’m my busiest. I really enjoy doing. It’s not that I can’t do in the summer time it’s just that I don’t.

Well, for 8 weeks of the summer I had a job from 8 in the morning until 5 in the afternoon working at a day camp. It was the most exhausting job I could ever imagine. Entertaining kids for nine hours a day is nowhere near as easy as it sounds. Doesn’t sound easy? That’s because it’s not.

What did I do after work everyday you ask?

Did I workout? No.

Did I experiment with new recipes? No.

Did I lay on my bed and watch Netflix? DING DING DING, yes.

Because I spent a good 8 weeks of my summer coming home and watching things on Netflix, you can bet your bottom dollar that I found some super great shows / movies. Guess who’s the best blogger ever and is going to share these insider secrets with you. Me! It’s me!

Here we go:

Movies

Django Unchained
one of the greatest movies I’ve ever seen. It’s about slavery, love, and power roles but so         much more. The cast is amazing, the cinematography is amazing. Honestly, one of my         top five favorite movies of all time.

Adventureland
a cute summer movie. set in the 80s and oh so relatable. a coming of age movie, kind of.         it’s funny, cute, and sad. is that what they call a “triple threat?”

Philomena
a movie I didn’t expect to be good. it’s about learning how everyone has an interesting         story. inspiring, for sure.

What’s Eating Gilbert Grape
a small town story with a long lasting affect. another inspiring one. I love movies that         leave me feeling emotionally drained, and this is one of them. johnny depp and leonardo         dicaprio are both in it if you weren’t already convinced.

Moonrise Kingdom
a wes anderson film, so obviously it’s gorgeous. I’m obsessed with the subtle humor, the         awkward (yet relatable) encounters, and the colors.

Clueless
honestly, if you haven’t already seen clueless this should be the first movie on this list         that you watch. a classic.

Mr. Nobody
one of those movies that makes you think. it’s long, but so worth it. this one is about         making difference choices and how certain choices can change your whole life path.         definitely a must watch.

Pulp Fiction
probably my number one favorite movie. so many quotable lines, so many perfect shots,         so much good. please watch it.

Stuck In Love
a movie about love, but also about family and living in the moment. a cute indie film.

Can’t Buy Me Love
a classic coming of age 80s movie. not sure why it’s not more talked about.

The Holiday
when you’re in need of watching a romcom, this is the one for you. sure it’s a christians         movie, but it’s appropriate for anytime of the year.

V for Vendetta
a movie that makes you think, super important to watch. it’s definitely not a surface level         movie. my mom didn’t like it (she thought it was too weird) but this is one of those         movies that’s about reading between the lines and understanding.

Short Term 12
a darker movie about the darker parts of life. emotionally draining, but important. one of         the greatest (and most surprising) endings of all time too.

The Big Short
a movie that everyone in the millennial generation should watch. the 2008 finical crisis         happened when we were alive and this movie helps break it down and make it more         understandable. phenomenally edited.

Nightcrawler
about the media and how twisted (fake?) it can become. definitely an interesting take on         media in this age. also, jake gyllenhaal isn’t too bad on the eyes.

Reservoir Dogs
a movie about pulling off a diamond heist. super bloody, just a warning. you’ve definitely     head some quotes from this movie before (ie “My way... or the highway!”). makes you         wonder who you can trust.

Wayne’s World
a funny movie for sure. on the same level as hot rod (another movie to watch even though     it’s no longer on netflix).

Sixteen Candles
an 80’s movie that you have to watch. have to.

Best in Show
one of the most quotable movies I have ever seen. absolutely hilarious. I might relate         even more than the average person because my grandfather is a dog show judge, but         nevertheless, still hilarious.

TV Shows:

The Office
for comedic relief. for quotable lines. for everything, honestly.

Prison Break
for an addicting tv show. the first season is the best and then it get’s kind of repetitive.

Scandal
for a love story. for behind the scenes in the white house. for the fashion.

How to Get Away with Murder
for understanding how to tell a story. for a good show. first season is the best season.

Orange is the New Black
for everything. honestly, if you haven’t watched every season by now, why not?

Stranger Things
THE BEST SHOW ON NETFLIX. it’s a little bit on the scarier side, but so so so good. a         must watch.

And there you have it, the best of Netflix. The real winners. Please let me know if you have any recommendations for me. I still have a week and a half of summer left so I’m trying to watch everything before the craziness of college comes back into my life.

SoHo Details

RANDOM STUFFChloe GordonComment

This past weekend, my dad and I ventured up to New York for his 30th college reunion. He actually went to college in Connecticut, but I was promised a shopping day in NYC if I joined him. I, of course, couldn’t pass up a shopping trip in NYC with my dad. I mean come on, how could anyone pass that up?

We were only there for the afternoon and decided to stay in the SoHo area. It was sweltering hot, and my dad isn’t much of a shopper so, under the circumstances, we didn’t do that much shopping. I ended up only buying two tee shirts, but I also ended up with a fun snap story.

When SnapChat first came out I didn’t really understand what the hype was about. You take pictures and your friends can see them for like five seconds? “Big deal, Instagram is cooler,” I naively thought. But it has since grown on me. I really enjoy the idea of a temporary representation of yourself. A little mini photo diary that can change and evolve and is temporary. There’s something magical about the temporariness of SnapChat that I love.

So anyway, I decided to take photos of cool or cute little things that I saw throughout the day. It started unplanned, but it evolved into this artsy little photo diary of my day. I got a lot of compliments on the photos so I thought I’d share them with you. Obviously, this takes away form the temporary aspect that I like so much, but they’re pretty pictures so pishposh.

If you ever find yourself in SoHo I totally recommend the Clare V. store and the Sleepy Jones store. You’ll love them.

Thanks for reading! What are your favorite SoHo spots?

iPod Memories

FASHION, EXTRAS, RANDOM STUFFChloe GordonComment

I’ve always been a saver. I don’t like buying things that cost a lot of money, but I do like to think I’m the kind of person that will impulse purchase something over $100. It’s just not me. I can’t do it. However, when I was in the third grade, the original iPod Movie came out. It was a huge deal, I mean you could listen to music, store photos, and watch movies and tv all on one device. A REVOLUTIONARY PIECE OF TECHNOLOGY.

I had been saving up for forever to buy an Apple product, because I thought they were just the coolest things. They were, but like I said, I don’t spend my money I just like to talk about what I theoretically would buy. But after talking about buying an iPod for the longest time, my mom finally drove me to Best Buy so I could purchase my very own iPod. After looking at the price tags I was about to back out, but then my mom reminded me how hard I had worked just so I could buy one. She was right, I really did want one, and YOLO, you know?

So I bought it. I splurged. I did it.

It has been years since I’ve used the trusty old iPod Movie. I mean, I upgraded to an iPhone which is, seemingly, so much better. It has everything that my iPod has plus texting, calling, FaceTime, and apps galore. But when I got home from college I was going through all my old things (nostalgia, you know) and I came across the ole trust iPod. It still works and has some bumpin’ beats. The best part though? The pictures. I started to scroll through all the pictures that I had on there and four hours later I realized how fast time goes by.

I found pictures from middle school field trips that feel like they were last month.
I found pictures from when my family went on vacation in elementary school.
I found pictures of me creating my first blog which feels like yesterday but was actually eight years ago.

Time flies. It’s cliche to say, I realize that, but I feel it now. I have three years left of “mooching” off my parents and that freaks me out. If I get married at a “normal” age (because right now that seems so far away and like it’s never going to happen) I have less time of being a single girl than I do of starting the whole family thing. I’m not a kid anymore, and even though I still feel 14, I have to realize that time is going quickly.

Sure the days and weeks pass slowly, but I finished my Freshman year of college in a blink of an eye. I want to make sure I treasure every single moment, because soon, I’m going to be looking at pictures of me now wondering why I didn't go do everything possible while I had the time and the freedom.

Sure I was broke after I punched my iPod in third grade, but you know what? I still have that iPod and it’s still impacting me. That’s what big purchase items are for, memories. You done good third grade self.
