Black and White and {not} Red all over

Remember the joke from when you were a kid "What's black and white and red all over?" Well, that joke is applicable for fall fashion 2013, except it's not a joke and it's not red all over (or camel) all over, but they would certainly add a nice touch if you want to add a punch... but the punchline is fall fashion 2013. One of springs hottest trends, black and white, stayed with us through summer and is sticking around for fall in a big way. And personally, I'm thrilled. Graphic, woven, or layered, it's is a look that's easy to wear, it's timeless and sophisticated. Which is why it has staying power, and why picking up investment pieces in black or white is a smart move. So I've been checking out the lookbook of Proenza Schouler who has mastered black and white like nobody else. *swoon*

Black and White fall fashion 2013

2013 Fall Collection

Maybe Chloe and I need to schedule some meetings outside of coffee shops, because I totally need to wear something like the outfit below for a business meeting, but on coffee shop meeting days perhaps I should just stick with this (those pants - gah)!

leather jacket | red & silver bag | heels dress

I like a bit of contrast, so I would take this sweet mod white dress, and toughen  it up with a dreamy leather jacket (which I'm beyond dying for and is on my wish list to wear with jeans to dresses). Nothing better than taking an innocent dress and adding an instant downtown vibe. Or a punch of color, which I adore more than anything (except leather jackets). I particularly like the silver accents in this red bag, but I also like the softeness in Proenza Schouler's iconic bags here and here, which would be exceptionally suited to this dress by adding an unstructured element. One of the hot shoe shapes in fall fashion 2013 is a pointed toe which also shows off your inner and outer arch. Perfect for those of you who have gorgeous high arches. Flats or heels like these go to work and the entire look werks it.
