I adore throwing parties, so why don't I do it more often? I think it's all the planning and list-making and organizing that I like. It's my forte. The list-making that is. Let me make the lists and give me a few days with absolutely nothing to do but time to arrange flowers, polish silver, organize seating... well, anything except cook... that's where a great caterer comes in handy. But I'm out of practice and, truth be told, I wasn't planning a party. Chloe's was. As much as I enjoy list-making, absolutely nothing stresses me out more than relinquishing control of something I like to do! So the morning of Chloe's party, we decided to take a walk while there was a break in the rain, and also gather some branches for a display I'd been working on. Honestly though, we just wanted to get out of the house because the rain had let up long enough for us to make an escape into some almost sunshine. We were clicking our heels in joy!
The morning was peaceful and quiet, except for a few joggers and dog-walkers. I was fortunate to have my new Hush Pupppies waterproof boots because it rained off and on all day... and our day was just getting started. With all the errands I needed to run at the last minute in the rain, I would have been soaked - but my feet stayed dry and cozy. And when I say rain, I mean RAIN! We had floods so severe that we missed some folks at Chloe's party... which by the way, turned out to be a bright spot in the day. I think she may have some party planning in her future... and I think I could like just sitting back and being a guest in our home!
