Closed Closet

Blue v-neck sweater by Everlane

Chloe and I love to share our clothes, it’s one of the perks of having a daughter, although I have to admit to stealing my son’s clothes too! Chloe and I are the same size in most of our clothes so instant closet doubling. But, when it comes to my “nicer” clothes, I draw the line… closet closed. You know, teens may not be too concerned about nice shoes being scuffed, suede getting rainspots, light colored pants getting a drop of marinara, or cashmere sweaters getting stretched or pulled.

Since I wear cashmere often, seemingly daily to keep warm this winter, I’m particularly possessive over my cashmere sweaters because they used to cost a bundle. But since discovering Everlane and the concept of radical transparency, my price point is down and the quality is way, way up. Prices are so reasonable and quality is so superior that when a friend of mine learned about my sweater, she was ordering instantly. No hesitation. (And she looked amazing in her new Everlane cashmere black cardi and Iris Apfel glasses at lunch yesterday!) Even her style cautious husband ordered a few items for himself, and silk shirts… for her.

Happy daughter in her cashmere sweater, happy couple in their new Everlane goodies, and happy me. Since I’m not setting Chloe up on a date and since my friends are already happily married, I can’t call myself the Millionaire Matchmaker; but perhaps I can call myself the Style Peacemaker. I kinda like it.

I love your shoes!! :) Well, I’m very particular with how my clothes are handled too, not really because they cost a lot but I’m just OC like that. Hehe lol. But it’s really because I just love them and I want to see them last longer. I don’t have anyone to share them with anyway because I live with 2 boys. :) I used to share clothes with my mom too and she was very generous but like you, there are clothes she doesn’t want me to wear.

That’s so effortless chic, Kim, like a French style. My daughter and I share closets too but we don’t own a cashmere sweater (yet) and also she took most of her clothes to London anyway…
Also your leo shoes are so cute!
Where do you get peonies at this time of the year? Love them!

A good cashmere sweater is such a good item. With those jeans it immediately turns you into a Ines de la Fressange. And she is pretty stylish.

I love the scenery in your photos! :) Love the outfit. As usual, you look lovely and I love the way those glasses look on you.

You look amazing Kim! The blue sweater works perfectly with the jeans and the leopard pumps add glomour! Me and my daughter also share clothes, I know this because I am constantly missing something from my wardrobe haha hugs to you both, Beata xxxx

Pretty Kim, I always like your pictures. Creative and inspiring. Cute shoes to add a bit of pattern to this outfit. Heck yes to cashmere and I’m going to check out this sight. Fun idea to visit a florist for this post. Jewelry is lovely!

I live on the other side of the globe from my mum and I miss clothes swapping with her, which I did a lot of while growing up. So lucky you having both a daughter and son to borrow clothes from. I love your photos - you look great in those jeans and heels and I love the coat! I’m a big fan of peonies too.

Lucky us, the florist was in the midst of preparing for a show - aren’t they to die for?

  • http://www.popcosmo.com/ PopCosmo

I’ve been stealing my son’s button downs - they are much brighter than my own and fit well when I tie them :) We’ve always share tees, but I’m odd that way, haha!

I’m seriously considering the Everlane cardis after seeing my friend’s - it was stunning!! Only 2? Just kidding - that’s 2 more than me :) I tend to be a v-neck and turtleneck person, it’s funny how we find our groove and stick with it!

Oh my goodness, the ultimate compliment!!!! Thank you!

Thank you Emmy! Everyone in my family laughed when I said I was ordering the clear ones from Rivet & Sway… and now they are everyone’s favorite! You just never know!

  • http://www.popcosmo.com/ PopCosmo

Isn’t that the truth? Except I happen to have all of my daughter’s jeans in my room right now. She has all my workout clothes. Pretty fair trade, I think! And they are worth it :)

I have a feeling Everlane will become one of your new favorites! Can’t wait to hear what you think! Your style reminds me of my friend I’m describing in the post.. in fact, so do you! (big compliment)

You really are the epitome of casual chic, Kim! You don’t ever look like you got dressed in the dark - like the rest of us sometimes do!
I am so overprotective of my cashmere (no kids; just dogs) but even with my best efforts years of manual wheelchair use have rubbed the backs of the shoulders into giant pills from pushing the chair. I think I need to check out Everlane ASAP!

Just such a classic look, cashmere and jeans - and the leopard pumps! You wear it well, and I like the glasses too!

I am in love with your little Clarks leopard kitten heels. I want them. Are they comfy?

Maybe that’s why I share… my mom would pass clothes down to me, but we didn’t exactly share! But she was incredibly generous and bought me amazing clothes (that I wish I’d saved since they are all back in style)! Your mom sounds wonderful!

Too funny, Alicia! I get rub spots from my purses, but am trying to be more aware. And thank you so much for the ultimate compliment. Love it!!!

    Always, Pattie, always!

Thank you - these glasses have been amazing!

  • http://www.popcosmo.com/ PopCosmo

YES, YES and yes! I wore them at a conference recently ALL day and they were amazing. They have padding in all the right places - I’d definitely recommend trying them. I’ve tried on a million pairs (high and low priced) and was shocked to see these in the window at Clarks. The price was right, the styling was fabulous, and the comfort made me go aaaahhh. I kid you not. (I only buy comfortable shoes - I’m very, very picky.)

You are looking fabulous…I love your glasses, but your smile today is your best accessory! Great photos, inside and out!

  • sarah

Love the sweater! May I ask what size you are wearing (I’ve heard mixed feedback about the sweater sizing)?

  • Mrs_Jack_of_all_trades

Definitely must check out this Everlane! Love, love, love cashmere! By the way, I raid my son’s closet too. One of his Ed Hardy tees is now permanently mine *blush* On another note, my Pedro Gracia arrived and I link to your blog on review post last weekend.

Casmere sweaters are very soft and warm! I love them too! I have no children but your idea of closing closet seems good! ( I am quite jealous of my clothes! )
I will have a look at Everlane…thanks for sharing!

Love those Everlane sweaters too! My daughter steals from my closet…I say steals because she rarely puts anything back! Luckily for me, pants and shoes are off limits…she is 5″ taller than me and a larger shoe size, but my tops and sweaters, she takes constantly. I guess I should consider it a compliment. :)

  • Natalie

I do love my Everlane! Thanks for turning me on to such an amazing line of clothes…hubby loves it too! I think I need to order more, pronto. I am wearing the silk shirt today and it is so comfy.

  • Natalie

These pictures of you are great, too! I especially love the last one…colors really pop!

  • http://www.popcosmo.com/ PopCosmo

Thank you … and I need to see you in that silk shirt!!!

Nice of you girls to share closets, but I do get a line in the sand where cashmere is concerned! Great discovery, and you look completely beautiful today. No need for lots of layers with this pretty pullover. Just enough jewels, and you look FABULOUS in GLASSES. So few of us really do!
