iPod Memories

FASHION, EXTRAS, RANDOM STUFFChloe GordonComment

I’ve always been a saver. I don’t like buying things that cost a lot of money, but I do like to think I’m the kind of person that will impulse purchase something over $100. It’s just not me. I can’t do it. However, when I was in the third grade, the original iPod Movie came out. It was a huge deal, I mean you could listen to music, store photos, and watch movies and tv all on one device. A REVOLUTIONARY PIECE OF TECHNOLOGY.

I had been saving up for forever to buy an Apple product, because I thought they were just the coolest things. They were, but like I said, I don’t spend my money I just like to talk about what I theoretically would buy. But after talking about buying an iPod for the longest time, my mom finally drove me to Best Buy so I could purchase my very own iPod. After looking at the price tags I was about to back out, but then my mom reminded me how hard I had worked just so I could buy one. She was right, I really did want one, and YOLO, you know?

So I bought it. I splurged. I did it.

It has been years since I’ve used the trusty old iPod Movie. I mean, I upgraded to an iPhone which is, seemingly, so much better. It has everything that my iPod has plus texting, calling, FaceTime, and apps galore. But when I got home from college I was going through all my old things (nostalgia, you know) and I came across the ole trust iPod. It still works and has some bumpin’ beats. The best part though? The pictures. I started to scroll through all the pictures that I had on there and four hours later I realized how fast time goes by.

I found pictures from middle school field trips that feel like they were last month.
I found pictures from when my family went on vacation in elementary school.
I found pictures of me creating my first blog which feels like yesterday but was actually eight years ago.

Time flies. It’s cliche to say, I realize that, but I feel it now. I have three years left of “mooching” off my parents and that freaks me out. If I get married at a “normal” age (because right now that seems so far away and like it’s never going to happen) I have less time of being a single girl than I do of starting the whole family thing. I’m not a kid anymore, and even though I still feel 14, I have to realize that time is going quickly.

Sure the days and weeks pass slowly, but I finished my Freshman year of college in a blink of an eye. I want to make sure I treasure every single moment, because soon, I’m going to be looking at pictures of me now wondering why I didn't go do everything possible while I had the time and the freedom.

Sure I was broke after I punched my iPod in third grade, but you know what? I still have that iPod and it’s still impacting me. That’s what big purchase items are for, memories. You done good third grade self.

summer, heck ya!

FASHIONChloe GordonComment

Heck ya! Summer is finally here and it’s so hot that I’ve already been through one tube of deodorant. That’s probably too much information to put on the world wide web (sorry future employers), but I’m all about being real.

Speaking of being real, summer is about to be real(ly) fun. I just found out I got a job as a counselor at a little day camp near my house. It’s going to be awesome because all the other counselors are college aged as well. Heck ya for making friends, am I right?

But as fun as this summer is going to be — we’re talkin’ no group projects, no homework, no homesickness — it’s going to be a weird one too. I’m going to miss walking to my friend’s dorm rooms in the wee hours of the night just to have dance parties, or snack parties, or to get ready for frat parties. I’m going to miss randomly seeing my friends while walking around campus. I’m going to miss the dining hall (omg, I know, I said it). I’m going to miss not having to take my trash out if I don’t want to. I’m going to miss the college life.

This summer definitely feels different than any other before.

It’s weird.

It’s not bad, it’s just different.

I’ll be sure to share stories throughout the summer, little check-ins about how I’m doing.
I’m also planning on posting a lot more often so be ready for PopCosmo to be back in full force, it’s about time ;)

Summer Uniform

FASHION, SHOPKim & ChloeComment

Winter is all about black, black and more black. But summer is when I whip out the white. And this summer is no exception, especially with the modern shapes and crisp perfection of the latest white blouses for inspiration. From a simple white tee to a complicated structured blouse, I'm ready for summer.

I'd love this cotton blouse by C/Meo with a nice peekaboo in back, a soft Vince top that bares your shoulders, this Tibi one that has more structure, or this ruffle crop by Madewell. But I might just have to get one with bell sleeves by Topshop similar to the photo on left. Which one is your favorite?

20/20 vision

FASHIONChloe Gordon2 Comments

When I was in second grade all I wanted was a pair of glasses and set of braces.

Unfortunately — at least seemingly at the time — I had 20/20 vision and perfectly straight teeth. Life was rough. I was jealous of all the “cool” fourth graders who had the killer combo of glasses and braces.

But, as my mom always said, “be careful what you wish for.”

While I never had braces, this year, my vision started failing me. I couldn’t see the board and I was constantly squinting and struggling to figure out what things said. It was terrible.

But I finally was able to live my second grade dream of accessorizing with a pair of stellar glasses.
My vision might not be 20/20 but my glasses sure are, am I right? Thanks Warby Parker, you’re the bomb.

best day of my life

FASHIONChloe Gordon1 Comment

This past Tuesday was the best day of my life.

At the glorious hour of 11o’clock a.m., I was informed that my math final later in the day was cancelled.

All because of some snow.

I found out while in a quiet study room, but didn’t hesitate to scream and dance and tear up when my friend shared the news with me.

It was seriously the best news I could have ever received in that specific moment in time. Everything was perfect. It was a literal blizzard outside, my math final was cancelled, the hot chocolate in the dining hall was on point, and my friends agreed to having a mini photo shoot outside our dorm.

I swear I’m at my most creative when I’m avoiding studying.

That being said, one of my friends took a few cute shots of me so I figured I should share them here. Because nothing says “blogger” like a post filled with narcissistic photos of yourself, am I right?

Kidding.

But not really.

If you're interested in my outfit here are the details:

In one of my classes, we’ve been watching a movie called Searching for Sugar Man.  It’s a documentary about an underground — presumably dead — musician who lived his life not knowing that a bootleg copy of his music went viral in South Africa after someone brought it back from America. It’s a super great movie and I totally recommend it, but the reason I’m bringing it up isn’t to talk about the movie, but to talk about the lyrics within Sugar Man’s songs.

I’m not really a music person. I love listening to music, don’t get me wrong, but I don’t know a lot of artists or song names, I just kind of listen to what I like when I’m feeling it, if that makes any sense at all. However, when I heard Rodriguez’s music I was infatuated. They’re just so poetic and perfect, and despite the fact of not being able to think of another adjective that starts with a P, I totally recommend you check out his stuff! Especially the songs “Sugar Man” and “I Wonder.”

Speaking of poetic and perfect things, can we take a moment to appreciate Free People clothes as of lately. They are seriously too perfect I can’t get over it — I mean check out how cool these leggings are. They’re the kind of clothes that you can throw on when you’re not feeling your prettiest and then feel transformed into a chic Pinterest person. So do yourself a favor and check out their newest stuff, you won't regret it.

Oh and one more perfect thing? Marshall, the amazing person behind these pictures! He’s seriously so talented, and I feel lucky to have been able to shoot with him. Check out his Instagram if you're in need of some photographic inspiration, another thing you for sure won’t regret.
